We produce almost all of our courses in-house, but we love to collaborate with domain experts (like you?) on them! If you have deep expertise in a subject, here's how working with us goes.
- Course Topic: Every course belongs to a larger learning path. Our goal is to strengthen those paths, not to ship random one-off courses.
- Our open roadmap on GitHub lists the learning paths currently under development.
- Any course on the roadmap that doesn't yet have a link is potentially up for grabs!
- Passionate about a topic that isn't listed? Think a learning path itself could be structured better? Reach out with your ideas anyway.
- Course Style: Boot.dev courses are text-first and highly interactive. Video plays a supporting role, not the lead. Browse our existing courses to get a feel for the style and structure.
- Compensation: We pay domain experts a flat contract fee as work-for-hire, plus commissions on sales made through your unique referral code.
- The work-for-hire structure means we can update the course as needed without nagging you to keep it current.
- The upfront fee means you're paid for your time even if the course serves a narrow (but important!) spot in the learning path rather than a broad audience.
- Collaboration: You outline the course, add personal stories, and review the material. We do most of the actual writing and editing: our in-house editors, animators, and developers copyedit, animate, and test everything before it goes live.
- Who can consult on a course? Anyone with real expertise in the topic. You don't need a huge social following, but you do need existing credibility with the subject matter.
Interested? Send an email to lane at boot dot dev that includes:
- A bit about yourself and your background
- Links to your previous technical writing
- The course you'd like to help us create
- Any questions you have about the process
We'll get back to you as soon as we can!
